WM2000 and WS1102 being a wireless-only device will need to have some preliminary setup done before it can be managed through Tibbo’s typical Device Explorer or DS Manager software.
There are three ways to achieve this:
- Configure through Web App BLE Terminal on the computer
- Configure through LUIS App on the cellphone
- Configure through the LUIS App on the computer
The general idea is to utilize the BLE connectivity to gain access to the basic configuration of the device. Out of the factory, WM2000 and WS1102 are preloaded with the "companion app" so it will work with the LUIS App for setup. If the companion app is missing, the only way to configure the device is through the BLE Terminal.
How do the WM2000 & WS1102 Differ from Other Tibbo Modules and Device Servers
The main settings of WM2000 and WS1102 are stored internally in the Device Configuration Block (DCB). While all settings are controlled and stored through the Tibbo BASIC application for other Tibbo Devices. These settings are the first thing you must configure to allow your device to appear on the network. The full list of settings can be found here (Device Configuration Block (WM2000 and WS1102 Only) | Tibbo Docs).
How to Connect via BLE Terminal
There are many modes (M/L V4 Flowchart | Tibbo Docs) that the device can be placed into during the boot process by various combinations of button presses of the MD button. The chart is daunting at a glance, and luckily, there’s also a simplified version for getting into the BLE Console Mode. The instructions can be found in our documentation.
How to Connect via LUIS App
The LUIS App is available on iOS and Android. It is also available as part of Tibbo's Web App. (LUIS (tibbo.com) / Tibbo Web Apps). To be able to interface with the LUIS App, your device must have the companion app preloaded, and the steps to get into this mode is as follows:
Location of the MD buttons
Since the wireless connection is handled internally by the processor, we always recommend that you set the autoconnect to yes and set the proper domain according to your location. Notice that you do not need to define which security method to use, this is all handled by the processor during the association process. We recommend that you configure all settings other than the defaultapp setting.
Once completed configuring type exit to reboot the device. If the settings were correct, you should see the yellow connection status LED turn ON after a short period of time, which means that the device has established connection to the Wireless AP.
