Isn’t it already calibrated?
The CO2 sensor inside Sensor Pod 02 is pre-calibrated before shipment. However, there might be instances when it needs to be recalibrated. This can be done via the companion app in advanced mode.
In frequent usage cases, sensors take a reading of the standard or normal CO2 range at the location and use it as the base to set the warning levels. However, if higher precision is required or if the unit is used at higher altitudes a recalibration might be in order.
The easiest way to recalibrate is to be in an open area with low pollutants. This means a garden in the middle of the city wouldn’t be a good place to calibrate, as there is much CO2 produced by automobiles and people. A more suitable area would be a rural area or any place that does not have high concentrations of population.
If the reading needs to be as precise as possible, we suggest that you visit a certified lab with gas chambers that can calibrate the CO2 level to 400ppm.
The process
First, please make sure that the Companion App is running in advanced mode. This article provides instructions for enabling it. Please note that only the value of 400ppm is accepted for calibration.
- Make sure that the OSS that is to be calibrated is in the calibration environment for 20 minutes or more for the sensor chamber to equalize with the environment.
- Select Configure and navigate to the Advanced tab.
- Under Special Commands, please enter in, exactly, CACO2:400
- Press save and reboot; OSS will start the calibration process when rebooted.
