Connect two Device Server (DS110x/DS203/DS100)
Hardware Requirements:
DS110x/DS203/DS100
Power adaptor to power DS110x/DS203/DS100
Router for Network LAN
Computer with IO Ninja application pre-installed for testing
USB-to-RS232 cable
Female-to-Female DB9 cable
Software Requirements:
DS110x/DS203/DS100 latest SOI firmware file on your computer
TDST (Tibbo Device Server Toolkit) pre-installed on your computer
Device Explorer pre-installed on your computer
IO Ninja application pre-installed on your computer
Drivers of respective manufacturer of USB-to-RS232 cable pre-installed on your computer
The above setup can be used:
- To communicate 2 retro devices, which only has RS232/422/485 peripheral
- To communicate 2 retro devices over long distances using Ethernet (LAN)
- Connect 2 DS110x/DS203/DS100 face-to-face over Ethernet and act as Gateway for retro devices on either-side
And many other scenarios like this, your imagination wins over the concept you apply.
My setup is pretty simple and straightforward as shown in the connection layout, you can connect 2 units of DS110x/DS203/DS100 face-to-face over the Ethernet side (represented by dotted-line), or you can even connect them to a network switch representing your private LAN or Office LAN, While I have used DS203 in my setup, so the DS Manager settings layout will be little different to what you will observe for DS110x devices with the latest SOI firmware.
For demonstration purposes, I am representing the retro devices with RS232/422/485 with a PC having IO Ninja pre-installed on them. IO Ninja will assist me to open the Serial session and connect to the COM port to both DS110x/DS203/DS100 giving us the real-life scenario of the retro devices.
You can even create a loop setup, in that instead of 2 PCs, you can connect both the Serial-side of DS110x/DS203/DS100 to a single PC and using IO Ninja's 2 Serial sessions you can still communicate from one DS110x to another.
I know the details of the device parameters are not clearly visible in the snapshot, I will request you all to open the snapshot in another tab for better visibility. Or you all can refer to the details of DS110x/DS203/DS100 devices shared below of my setup.
Here one of the DS110x/DS203/DS100 devices is acting as a TCP server and another as TCP Client, to avoid any communication error over Ethernet. You can check my snapshot of the DS Manager settings of each device to know better.

Device-1:
- Acting as "Server" will listen to Clients from any IP address in the LAN
- IP Address: 192.168.1.37
- Serial port COM4 is connected to the PC
Device-2:
- Acting as "Client" connects to "Server" (Device-1) over LAN
- IP Address: 192.168.1.48
- Serial port COM12 is connected to the PC

The details of the DS Manager settings of Device-1 is shared below for your reference.
As I used the DS203 device server, you can replicate these settings for DS110x and DS100 too. The important thing here is to take care of the setting from the Ethernet side.
One of the Device Server should act as "Server" and the other should be "Client" as per TCP protocol.
The details of the DS Manager settings of Device-2 is shared below for your reference.
Serial settings for both the Device Server should be matching to the respective third-party they are connected to.
After completing the DS Manager settings for both the DS110x/DS203/DS100 devices, you can reboot them. Connect the Serial session of each device using IO Ninja and check the connectivity by transferring a few data packets from Serial-to-Serial in my case from COM-4 to COM-12 and vice versa.
The final results will appear like this as shown in the IO Ninja snapshot below.
